Each year, STL Youth Jobs coordinates summer employment for at-risk young people in the St. Louis area, including the 24:1 Community.

In 2021, STL Youth Jobs is recruiting 500 young people ages 15 through 24 from neighborhoods with high rates of youth unemployment, poverty, and juvenile crime.

Here’s how it works: STL Youth Jobs provides youth with upfront training and skill-building that includes financial literacy, workplace behaviors, and job readiness. Youth are placed at a local business and work up to160 hours during the summer. For entry-level experience, summer workers ages 16 to 24 are paid $10.50 per hour. In the Career Accelerator Pathway that connects qualifying alumni to higher-level jobs and internships, the pay rate is $12.50 per hour.

Once youth are ready for work, they are connected with a summer employment experience based on their area of interest, skills, and location.

New this year, STL Youth Jobs has expanded to serve 15-year-olds with early skills training and job shadowing. This will be a pathway into the full summer program at age 16.

STL Youth Jobs is currently seeking employers and young people to participate for the summer of 2021.
