The St. Louis Tax Assistance Program offers free income tax preparation and tax information for individuals and families with incomes up to $67,000. TAP will make sure your return is completed correctly and help you get any tax credits you deserve.
They can help you access all tax credits for which you are eligible, including the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), Child Tax Credit (CTC), and Missouri Property Tax Credit (also known as the Circuit Breaker).

Here is what you will need to bring:
EVERYONE:
- Government-issued photo ID (i.e., driver’s license or passport) for taxpayer and spouse (NOTE: Both spouses need to be present to sign return)
- Social Security or ITIN cards for ALL family members
- Direct deposit information (bank routing & account numbers)
- Copy of 2023 return if possible
AS APPLICABLE:
- All W-2s and 1099s (if any) for 2023
- Form 5498-SA and 1099-SA for your Health Saving Account. If your W-2 has an amount labeled “W” in Box 12 of your W-2, you will need these two documents
- Form 1095-A if covered by Marketplace Insurance
- Form 1098-T and student’s statement of account for the tax year
- Proof of daycare expenses paid with daycare provider’s name, address, and Tax ID Number
- Gig workers need to bring a listing of business-related expenses and number of business miles driven.
- If a victim of identity theft, IP PIN letter from IRS (IRS will mail in early January)
- Health Insurance Premiums or Long-Term Care Premiums Paid (Missouri residents get a break on their state taxes)
- IP PIN letter if victim of identity theft
APPLYING FOR THE MISSOURI PROPERTY TAX CREDIT (Circuit Breaker)?
- Bring completed and signed Form 5674, Verification of Rent Paid, or real estate taxes paid document
- SSI Benefit verification letter
- Non-taxable VA Benefit letter
TAP does NOT prepare income tax returns for taxpayers with incomes over $67,000 or who own rental property.
